Nieves Montaño is a visual storyteller who grew up in the borderlands. 

Nieves is a Phoenix, Arizona native who grew up in Sonora, Mexico. She moved to Tucson for graduate school, but after a few years in the academic world, she decided that life was too short to spend it in a windowless lab. Her eclectic style is a reflection of her desire to infuse a feeling of inclusion and humanness to her work. She loves to capture vibrant aspects of Southern Arizona border life.
